New Speculative Building to be Constructed

GLASGOW, KY. – June 12, 2026 – The Barren County Economic Authority (BCEA) plans to construct a new speculative industrial building in South Cooper Industrial Park in Glasgow, Kentucky. The BCEA Board of Directors has selected Scott, Murphy & Daniel for the development of the 60,000-square-foot facility.

The project reflects Barren County's continued commitment to meeting the demands of today's site selection environment, where speed-to-market is often a deciding factor in location decisions. By offering available industrial space, the Authority can significantly reduce project timelines and better position Barren County to compete for new investment and job creation opportunities.

“Companies are moving faster than ever, and communities that can provide immediate solutions have a distinct advantage,” said Maureen Carpenter, President & CEO of the Barren County Economic Authority. “This new speculative building strengthens our ability to compete for high-quality projects and demonstrates our commitment to supporting business growth in Barren County. We are excited to partner with Scott, Murphy & Daniel, whose expertise and long-standing investment in industrial development make them an exceptional partner for this project.”

The 60,000-square-foot facility will be located on approximately 15.32 acres within South Cooper Industrial Park and is designed with expansion capabilities up to 240,000 square feet. The site offers convenient access to the Cumberland Expressway and Interstate 65, providing excellent connectivity for manufacturing, distribution, and logistics operations. Construction is expected to be completed in early 2027.

“Available industrial product remains one of the most important assets a community can offer prospective employers,” said Barren County Judge Executive Jamie Bewley Byrd. “We continue to see strong interest from companies looking for existing facilities, and this investment ensures Barren County remains ready to respond to opportunities as they arise. By combining quality infrastructure, strategic location advantages, and a pro-business environment, we are creating the conditions for continued economic growth resulting in new jobs.”

This marks the third speculative building developed within South Cooper Industrial Park. Previous speculative buildings located on Lots 1 and 7 were each under contract within a year of completion and are now home to Bluegrass Ingredients and Union Coating, demonstrating the strong demand for industrial space in the region.

“South Cooper Industrial Park continues to be a catalyst for economic growth and investment in our community,” said Glasgow Mayor Henry Royse. “This project builds on the momentum we have worked hard to create and sends a strong message that Glasgow is prepared for future opportunities. We are proud to support developments that create jobs, attract investment, and strengthen our local economy for years to come.”

The partnership between BCEA and Scott, Murphy & Daniel underscores a shared commitment to expanding industrial opportunities, attracting new employers, and ensuring businesses have access to modern, market-ready facilities in South Central Kentucky.
